Dye Hard

We had our business cards printed off this week.
Actually, we had cards printed off earlier, but they sucked.
We really like how these turned out though.
We used Dingman Professional Printing in Ogden Utah.
(kung fu background added for punch)

For those who are interested in adding a dye cut (having some shape cut out)
to their card, a word to the wise: don't make it too big.
Our cut out was originally so big that it made the card flimsy.

Anyway, I decided to make some animated gifs of the card. at Gifninja.com
In fact, our tagline is now:
We make videos, and animated gifs, for imaginative clients.

I can 8 to 5 with the best of em

If you're wondering about the title, it's actually a marching band reference.

So maybe I spent more time playing my trumpet for athletes in high school than I did actually playing sports. No matter, the middle-aged fans ate up "Hey Baby" like a cheese ball at a Christmas party- and that's far more rewarding than a girlfriend.

We made this promo for our sports highlight services. Their talent and strength really is impressive. My favorite is when the entire opposing team has to join together to stop the fullback.

Turtle Man

My friend Don Heath is hilarious.

He always comes up with these terrible ideas for my videos.
Most of them involve his Grandma Kagie.
One time, he said I should make a wedding video entirely within the mens room.
The bulk of the video would just be dudes at the urinal.

So I decided to actually make one of these totally random/creepy videos with him.
Don't worry, we didn't use Don's location choice.

(Video was removed upon talent's request)

It's a formula, but it works...

We really like making wedding videos.

Every couple that comes to us for a video are distinct.
We do not have any sort of a formula for shooting weddings.
This helps us keep our videos spontaneous and unique.

This is a compilation of some moments from weddings we shot last year.

Commercials

I love them.
It's so challenging to make a great one.
I could spend hours on MJZ.com.

Here are some of my favorite commercials:

His face after he's made the car is saying "Have Mercy"

There is nothing better than an extremely clever,
and still very low budget commercial.

Pacing is really the trick. This is only 0:45 long
and its jam packed with hilarity.

I never thought I would want to eat chocolate flavored Skittles
until this commercial.

Again, the pacing is so key. It feels like there are a bunch
of long pauses and awkward moments.

New Direction

"I make videos for clients."

As an independent contractor, I've been fortunate enough to do a lot of different work for a lot of different clients. I've created websites, graphic design, and photography, but video production is absolutely my favorite thing to do.

Life File Videos is the result of my realization that video production is what I do.

Did you ever take those tests that are supposed to tell you what kind of learner you are? I've always been extremely visual. That is really at the root of my love for video production. Its my best way of communicating.

This is what I do, and I'm absolutely going to give it my all.
